Whether you are a new varifocal wearer, have a new prescription or are trying a new varifocal lens design, all varifocals can take time to get used to.
The following steps can help you adjust to your new lenses more quickly.
Check the range of the lens
Ensure the glasses are positioned comfortably as far up the nose as they can sit, then look straight ahead into the distance around you. Your vision should be clear.
Finding the intermediate portion
Maintaining your gaze through the distance portion of the lens and bring some reading material into your mid range view at arms length. Fix your gaze on the print whilst slowly tilting your head back until the print clears. This is the mid range or intermediate portion of the lens.
Finding the reading portion
Bring the reading material closer to you where you would typically hold material to read, continue to tilt your head further backwards until the print clears. This is the reading portion of the lens.
As varifocal lenses have 3 prescriptions blended into the one lens it is normal for there to be distortion at the outer edges of the lens. Pointing your nose at what you want to see in the distance will help you look through the centre of the lens, avoiding these blurry areas.
Once you have established where the focal points are within your lens, for mid range viewing simply keep your head straight whilst lowering your gaze and for reading drop your eyes and raise your chin. When going down the stairs make sure you drop your head, not your eyes. This will ensure you look through the distance portion of the lens.
To help your eyes adjust as quickly as possible to your new varifocal lenses try not to switch between any old pairs of glasses that you may have. We recommend allowing up to 2 - 3 weeks to become fully accustomed with your new lenses.

Adjusting to your varifocal glasses.
When transitioning to varifocal glasses, it's important to give yourself ample time to adjust to the new lenses. Varifocal lenses offer a seamless transition between near, intermediate, and distance vision, but they may require some adaptation, especially if you're new to wearing multifocal eyewear. Initially, you may experience slight distortion or difficulty with depth perception as your eyes adapt to the different focal areas of the len. Be patient and consistent with wearing your glasses, and remember to move your head rather than just your eyes when looking at different distances. If you experience persistent discomfort or vision problems, contact our customer service team who will advise the next steps to take.
