12th July: National Different Coloured Eyes Day!
Today is National Different Coloured Eyes Day, which means it’s time to celebrate your own unique eye colour. All eyes are precious and individual, giving us each a unique outlook on the world. And whether your eyes are blue, brown, green or hazel, at Direct Sight we’re celebrating all the colours of the spectrum.
For some people, ‘different coloured eyes’ takes on whole a new meaning. Heterochromia Iridum is a condition where the iris of each eye is a different colour or, in the case of Partial/Sectoral Hetereochromia, part of the iris is a different colour from the rest. Celebrities with this unusual condition include actress Mila Kunis and British actor Simon Pegg. There are several variations of the condition, including Central Heterochromia, in which the central pupillary zone of the iris is a different colour to the outer edges..
The condition is determined by the concentration of melanin in the iris and, although it most commonly the result of a genetic trait, Heterochromia Iridum can be caused by external factors such as injury, inflammation or certain eye drops.
But no matter what your natural eye colour, Direct Sight has a wide range of fun coloured frames to enhance your individuality. These Carrera CA6170 glasses are available in 4 different colours, including a bright green frame to complement any eye colour.
