What do the colour of my frames say about me?
Here at DirectSight we think that having choices can never be a bad thing, and that’s why we’re so proud to host such a broad range of men’s and women’s glasses and sunglasses.
Still, sometimes all that choice can be confusing and there’s no harm in having a little helping hand every now and then to point you in the direction of your perfect specs! With that in mind, here’s a little guide on the sort of impression that different coloured frames can give off and what they’re best used for:
Black
The colour of authority. Black glasses are a timeless fashion piece which project style and sophistication – a fantastic fit for the office, but sometimes lacking in glam for a night out in town.
White
A simple of purity and elegance. White is considered to be a summer colour and has the huge advantage of going with practically everything – great for most occasions but you might find them a bit showy for a formal office environment and it’s worth remembering that they show dirt a little bit easier.
Red
Red is often said to be the most intense colour of the spectrum, stimulating increased heart rate and commonly linked to impulsiveness. Red frames will get you noticed and can work well as an accent piece provided you’re not wearing red elsewhere in your outfit.
As the colour of love, red can excite passion but also seem confrontational and inappropriate for business meetings. Pink, however, is warming and tranquilising.
Blue
Blue is often considered the most popular colour, and that means it can be comforting to others around you. As the opposite of red, one tends to work in situations which the other does not – so blue is perfect for events such as interviews.
Blue is calming and emphasizes loyalty, but because of its popularity it can make you blend in more than you desire at certain occasions.
Green
Green has been proven to be the easiest colour on the eye, which makes it refreshing and relaxing. Greens, especially dark greens, imply wealth and success due to their being such a rich colour, but you might find it a hard colour to fit into a conservative work wardrobe.
Yellow
Yellow is stereotyped as the sunny, happy colour and that means that yellow specs will get you a lot of attention! Yellow enhances concentration so a small amount of yellow around your eyes can go a long way, but it’s also been shown to be the hardest colour for the eyes to take in, meaning that excessive exposure to it can become aggravating.
That said, yellow glasses can compliment an outfit well to portray a healthy dose of optimism.
Purple
Long since enshrined in royalty, purple is the colour of luxury and wealth. Purple frames can make an outfit appear feminine and sophisticated, but may feel out of place in some environments because of its rarity in nature.
Brown
A lot of men would say brown is their favourite colour, as it has earthy, reliable connotations. Brown can make you seem trustworthy and genuine and is a great colour for work or an evening out if you’re going for a smart look.
