Which Glasses Suit Different Face Shapes?
The beauty of humanity means that each and every one of us has a
different face, and we relish in creating different identities for
ourselves. Thankfully, designers are well aware of this and create
glasses in a myriad of colours, shapes and materials. This does make
choosing the right pair of glasses a complicated process. There are so
many options on the market and when in an opticians or online, wall
after wall of great looking designs
can be confusing.
To make this decision a little easier, here are few tips to making the
right choice. Firstly, you need a pair of glasses that suits your face
shape, and the main face shapes are oval, round, square and heart
shaped:
Oval
For those who have oval shaped faces, which are characterised by having a
narrow forehead and jaw-line and normally high cheek bones, any type of
frame tends to look good, but, be careful not to overpower your face.
Round
Round face shapes are just that, they have an equal width and height
with soft features. To compliment this, glasses with angular lines will
add balance.
Heart
Heart shaped faces have wider foreheads with a narrow chin. This face
shape is trickier to fit, so allow for plenty of experimentation with
different shapes to find a good look. It is important to avoid options
that have too much decoration at the top or a wide at the bottom of the
glasses.
Square
The final general face shape is square, where the jaw line and forehead
are equal width with strong lines. Glasses with soft lines are a good
option here, as again, they add balance.
The next thing to consider is the style and colour of the glasses. The following shapes suit these face shapes:
Oval: any shape can look good, a good place to start are rectangular or butterfly shapes
Round: angular, rectangular, geometric
Heart: butterfly, cats-eye, round, low-frames
Square: Round, cats-eye
Colour adds further dimension to the design. It can make your face look younger, for example light colours for women and dark colours for men, and they also add extra elegance and style to an outfit. Knowing current colour trends is useful; however, an easy way to choose a colour for your glasses is to compliment your own complexion. Finally but most importantly, whatever you choose, the glasses need to help you feel good.
